NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing their offensive line, the Tennessee Titans are set to add former Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Dan Moore to their roster. This development marks a significant endeavor by the team as they approach the free agency period with an intent to fortify a previously weak offensive line.
The Titans have secured a four-year contract with Moore, valued at $82 million, a figure that includes $50 million in guaranteed earnings. This information has surfaced from a source familiar with the agreement, although it remains unofficial until the NFL’s new fiscal year commences on Wednesday afternoon, when contracts can be formally finalized.
By acquiring Moore, the Titans plan to strategically reposition JC Latham, their seventh overall pick from Alabama last April, who played as a left tackle throughout all 17 games in his rookie season, to the right tackle spot. This adjustment addresses a major concern for the team, which saw four different players attempt to plug the gap at the right tackle during their challenging 3-14 season.
With the No. 1 pick in the upcoming April draft and under the guidance of newly appointed General Manager Mike Borgonzi, the Titans are eager to address the 52 sacks permitted during the 2024 season. Only four teams — Houston, Seattle, Cleveland, and Chicago — conceded more sacks during the same period. In preparation for this season, Tennessee has endeavored to manage their salary cap effectively, which included the recent release of outside linebacker Harold Landry III.
Dan Moore, a 26-year-old, was initially selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Steelers, coming out of Texas A&M. Possessing an imposing stature at 6-foot-5 and weighing 315 pounds, Moore has impressively started all 66 games of his NFL career thus far, including a full slate of 17 games in the most recent season. His consistency and performance make him a promising asset for the Titans as they seek to bolster their offensive capabilities.
