LAS VEGAS — Adrian Kempe netted the decisive goal as the Los Angeles Kings triumphed over the Vegas Golden Knights with a 6-5 win on Sunday night.
Quinton Byfield, Warren Foegele, Anze Kopitar, Trevor Moore, and Brandt Clarke also found the back of the net for the Kings. In the victory, David Rittich registered 27 saves.
On the Vegas side, Tomas Hertl achieved a hat trick, with Nicolas Roy and Brandon Saad adding to the scoreline. Goalie Adin Hill managed 29 saves during the encounter.
The win marked the Kings’ second consecutive victory and snapped the Golden Knights’ four-game winning streak, which had commenced following a 5-2 defeat in Los Angeles on February 24.
The Kings finished the season series against the Golden Knights with a 3-1 record, securing three victories in a row.
Noteworthy performances included Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and forward Warren Foegele reaching their 100th career assists. Additionally, Golden Knights forward Reilly Smith celebrated his 900th career game, contributing an assist to Roy’s goal.
A pivotal moment in the match was Byfield’s goal a mere 1:56 into the second period, extending his personal goal streak to three games and giving the Kings a 3-0 advantage.
Of statistical significance, Kopitar scored his 16th goal of the season and marked his 16th career goal against the Golden Knights.
Looking forward, the Kings will host the Islanders as they begin a three-game home stretch on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights embark on a four-game road journey, starting with a match in Pittsburgh on the same night.
