WASHINGTON – In an impressive display, Dylan Williamson scored a remarkable 32 points, guiding the top-seeded Towson Tigers to secure a win over the eighth-seeded Drexel Dragons with a final score of 82-76 in the quarterfinals of the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament on Sunday.
Williamson demonstrated efficiency on the court, successfully making 12 of his 19 attempts from the field, including an impressive 7 out of 10 from beyond the arc. His stellar performance was crucial for the Tigers, who boast a record of 22-10 this season and are now 1-0 in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament.
Tyler Tejada also made significant contributions to Towson’s victory, scoring 21 points by shooting 9 of 19 from the field. Another key player, Nendah Tarke, managed 9 points after making 3 out of 11 attempts from the field, which included 1 for 5 from three-point range, and landed 2 of his 5 free throws.
On the Drexel side, the Dragons, now standing at 18-15, were led by Shane Blakeney, who scored 24 points. Yame Butler and Kobe Magee complemented Blakeney’s efforts, adding 14 and 13 points respectively.
Towson started strong, leading Drexel at halftime with a score of 38-29. Tejada played a crucial role in the first half by scoring 12 points. In the second half, Williamson continued to shine, scoring 24 additional points for Towson, ensuring their advancement in the tournament with a close six-point margin of victory.
