INGLEWOOD, Calif. — On Saturday, a remarkable incident unfolded at a CarMax dealership in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood, resulting in injuries to eight individuals after a vehicle unexpectedly crashed into the building.

Among those hurt, two sustained critical injuries, while six others were left with only minor wounds, confirmed Jonathan Torres, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Aftermath footage shared across social media unveiled chaotic scenes featuring a damaged SUV maneuvering in reverse through the dealership’s structure, at which point a CarMax employee was seen quickly exiting the area. The vehicle maneuvered within the lobby, ultimately exiting from the opposite side.

CarMax revealed that the individual behind the wheel was a customer whose vehicle was under appraisal at the time of the incident. Subsequently, authorities took the driver into custody.

In a statement, CarMax expressed gratitude for the prompt response by emergency services, acknowledging the harrowing nature of the event.

Initially reported as an active shooter scenario, the confusion was later clarified by Torres, who emphasized that there was no evidence of shots being fired.

The failed communications with the Inglewood Police Department that evening emphasized the ongoing investigation and the desire for precise updates on the event.

Nestled about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles, Inglewood is no stranger to high-profile occurrences, but the day’s dramatic events certainly stand out as extraordinary.
