PITTSBURGH — Cameron Corhen and Brandin Cummings each contributed 16 points, aiding Pittsburgh to break a four-game losing streak with a commanding 93-67 victory over Boston College in their regular-season closer on Saturday.
The Panthers (17-14, 8-12) concluded the regular season amid a congested Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) standings, with five teams finishing at 8-12. As the No. 13 seed, Pitt is set to face No. 12-seed Notre Dame in the tournament opener on Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Boston College (12-19, 4-16), having won 20 games and secured a berth in the National Invitation Tournament a year prior, is among three teams not joining the ACC Tournament.
The game saw its only tie at 4-4, after which Pitt responded with an 11-0 run to gain a double-digit advantage and escalated to a 29-point lead by halftime at 48-19. While the Eagles attempted a comeback in the second half, outscoring Pitt 48-45 across the last 20 minutes, the Panthers largely utilized their bench players.
Pitt achieved a shooting success rate of 50% from their 60 field goal attempts and converted 12 of 30 attempts from three-point range. Corhen shot an impressive 7 of 10 from the field, while Cummings made 3 of 7 from deep, also pitching in with five assists. Jaland Lowe added to the effort with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Ishmael Leggett contributed 14 points and eight rebounds. The Pitt bench offered substantial support with 27 points.
On Boston College’s side, Elijah Strong led with 14 points and Donald Hand Jr. contributed 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Dion Brown and Chad Venning each added 10 points to the scoreboard.
