BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In a thrilling contest, Trey Galloway and Malik Reneau each tallied 16 points, leading Indiana to overturn a 10-point deficit in the second half to claim a 66-60 victory over Ohio State on Saturday. This win ensures Indiana (19-12, 10-10 Big Ten) a ninth-place finish in the conference standings, granting them a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament. Meanwhile, Ohio State’s (17-14, 9-11 Big Ten) loss relegates them to tenth place, meaning they will face off on the tournament’s opening day in Indianapolis.
Ohio State initially surged ahead in the second half, securing a 56-51 advantage with five minutes remaining. However, they faltered, failing to convert three shot attempts and two free throws while committing three turnovers over the next four minutes. Galloway energized Indiana with a pair of three-pointers, sparking a 12-0 run that put the Hoosiers ahead 63-56 as the clock wound down. Galloway capped his performance by making 3 of 7 shots from beyond the arc.
In the final minute, Indiana managed to sink only one of two free throws on three occasions, but Ohio State continued to struggle, missing a couple of three-pointer attempts and suffering another turnover. The Buckeyes did not manage to score a basket after the 5:55 mark.
Luke Goode contributed 11 points for Indiana, capitalizing on 8 of 10 free throw attempts. Reneau was flawless at the charity stripe, converting all six of his attempts in the last seven minutes of the game.
