In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Camryn Weston played an instrumental role in guiding Middle Tennessee to a decisive victory over Florida International, ending the regular season in Conference USA with a convincing 78-56 win on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders, boasting a record of 21-10 overall and 12-6 in the conference, secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming conference tournament. They are set to face No. 6 seed Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinals on Thursday in Huntsville, Alabama. With a 9-22 record, including 3-15 in the conference, the Panthers slot into the No. 10 seed and will compete against No. 7 seed Western Kentucky in the tournament’s opening round on Tuesday.
Adding to Middle Tennessee’s impressive performance, Weston not only led the scoring with 15 points but also contributed five rebounds. Kamari Lands shone with 13 points, making five out of six shots, including three from beyond the arc, and also pulled down five rebounds. Jestin Porter added 12 points to the winning tally.
On the opposing side, Jayden Brewer emerged as a key player for the Panthers, leading with 15 points and securing seven rebounds. He was supported by Ashton Williamson, who contributed 14 points, and Dashon Gittens, who chipped in with eight points.
Middle Tennessee gained the lead early, just three minutes into the game, and maintained their advantage throughout. By the halftime break, the Blue Raiders were ahead 41-20, with Weston already accumulating nine points.
