GLENDALE, Ariz. — Chase Meidroth, an infielder for the Chicago White Sox, exited Saturday’s spring training match against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to cramping in his calves.

During the game, Meidroth managed a fly out to right field in the first inning and then grounded out to the shortstop in the third. By the fifth inning, a pinch hitter took his place on the field.

The team has indicated that Meidroth’s condition is being monitored on a day-to-day basis.

The 23-year-old player, who was part of a significant trade in December that sent Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox, is now vying for a position on the White Sox’s roster for opening day.

A fourth-round selection in the 2022 amateur draft, Meidroth had an impressive previous season with Triple-A Worcester, batting .293, hitting seven home runs, and collecting 57 RBIs across 122 games.
