In Akron, Ohio, Isaiah Gray and Nate Johnson each scored 14 points, contributing to Akron’s 88-70 victory over Buffalo on Friday night in the final game of the Mid-American Conference regular season.
Gray was efficient on the court, hitting 7 out of 12 attempts for the Zips, who boast a season record of 25-6, and an impressive 17-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Having already secured the top seed position, Akron is set to face the No. 8 seed Bowling Green in the opening round of the conference tournament on Thursday. Unfortunately for Buffalo, their season concludes with a 9-22 record and a 4-14 mark against conference rivals, landing them in the 11th position and out of tournament contention.
Among Akron’s notable contributors was Shammah Scott, who chipped in with 11 points. For Buffalo, Ben Michaels and Ryan Sabol each put up 14 points in a bid to challenge Akron, while Lloyd McVeigh supported with 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Akron established their dominance early on, taking a lead just one minute and ten seconds into the game – a lead they seized firmly and never surrendered. By halftime, Akron had advanced to a 47-24 lead, aided by Bowen Hardman’s seven-point contribution.
