WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Houston Astros’ first baseman Christian Walker received an encouraging update concerning his oblique problem that has slowed his participation in spring training.

Walker had traveled to Houston for a medical evaluation of his oblique. As of Friday, Astros manager Joe Espada shared with reporters that the MRI results showed no sign of any strain.

Consequently, Walker is expected to rejoin the Astros’ spring training camp shortly.
Approaching his 34th birthday on March 28, Walker exhibited solid performance metrics last season with Arizona, achieving a .251 batting average and a .335 on-base percentage. He also hit 26 home runs and collected 84 RBIs over 130 games. In December, he inked a new deal with the Astros worth $60 million over three years.
