The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is expressing optimism due to the enthusiastic backing for the upcoming Winter Paralympics set to take place in Italy next year. Andrew Parsons, the President of the IPC, expressed hopefulness about the continued surge in support witnessed over the recent Winter Paralympic events.

“We are eagerly anticipating these games, especially given the remarkable hike in support we’ve observed—from Pyeongchang in 2018 to Beijing in 2022, and further into recent seasons,” Parsons remarked during a conversation.

One of the highlights of the Milan-Cortina Paralympics, according to Parsons, will be Italy’s stunning mountainous landscapes. “I believe the iconic representation of these games will undoubtedly be the Dolomites—that’s a definite,” he mentioned. “It will feature some of the most breathtaking scenic views in any Paralympic Winter Games thus far.”

Last month’s transport strike in Milan, which disrupted an Olympic test event planned for local schoolchildren, raised alarms about potential ramifications for the Games. However, Parsons remains confident that these issues will not extend to the Paralympics.

“The regional and national authorities are well aware of such situations,” Parsons assured. “Proactive planning and specific measures are underway to ensure such disruptions are avoided during the Games.”
