NEW YORK — Boston prospects Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Marcelo Mayer are among the top talents set to showcase their skills during the Spring Breakout event, scheduled from March 13-16. This announcement follows the release of the rosters by the 30 Major League Baseball teams for the second annual Breakout series.
The event will feature a total of 16 games, taking place across various spring training facilities located in Florida and Arizona. Roman Anthony, a 20-year-old prospect, made quite an impression last year, boasting a .894 OPS, hitting 18 home runs, driving in 65 runs, and securing 21 stolen bases over the course of 119 games at both Double-A and Triple-A levels.
Kristian Campbell, another promising player aged 22, exhibited remarkable performance with a .330 batting average, a .439 on-base percentage, and a .997 OPS. He recorded 20 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases across 115 games, played at three different levels. Additionally, Marcelo Mayer, also 22, shined with a .307 batting average and an .850 OPS in 77 games at Double-A Portland.
On Cleveland’s roster, standout prospect Travis Bazzana makes his presence known as the No. 1 pick in the previous year’s amateur draft. Players invited to participate in Spring Breakout are required to hold rookie status, meaning they must not exceed 130 at-bats, have pitched more than 50 innings, or have been on an active big league roster for more than 45 days.
This exciting event offers an opportunity for fans and scouts alike to witness emerging baseball talents as they gear up for the upcoming season.
