Two individuals have been formally charged in connection with the tragic deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans, who were found deceased in a backyard two days after gathering to watch the final game of the NFL regular season in early 2024. Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson face multiple charges, including three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts related to the delivery of a controlled substance, accusations that have garnered widespread attention across various social media platforms. They are being held on a bond set at $100,000, cash only.

The tragic discovery was made on January 9, 2024, when the bodies of 38-year-old Ricky Johnson, 36-year-old Clayton McGeeney, and 37-year-old David Harrington were found in Willis’ backyard in Kansas City, Missouri. The grim find was made after McGeeney’s fiancée went searching for him. An autopsy and further forensic testing determined that the men succumbed to the effects of a potent mixture of fentanyl and cocaine, as outlined in a probable cause statement.

Accounts from witnesses indicate that the group began using cocaine when they initially gathered at Harrington’s home, later moving to Willis’ residence on January 7, 2024, to watch the Chiefs face off against the Los Angeles Chargers. These witnesses also claimed that Willis was known for supplying cocaine to friends short on money and allegedly purchased it from Carson, according to investigative statements.

However, Jordan Willis’ lawyer, John Picerno, challenges these allegations, insisting that there is insufficient proof that Willis acquired the drugs that led to the untimely deaths of his friends. Picerno emphasizes that his client was unaware of their lingering presence in his backyard or their need for urgent medical help until authorities arrived. “It has been a very, very long year for Jordan,” Picerno remarked. “He’s lost his job, home, and friends, with the public wrongly casting him as culpable for their deaths, which is simply untrue.”

In his statement to law enforcement, Willis expressed his suspicion that the victims might have obtained fentanyl on the day the game occurred. He believed they left his home around 4 a.m. the subsequent morning. Weather conditions on the night in question reported a low of approximately 33 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius).

Investigators also questioned Ivory Carson. Carson admitted to previously selling cocaine to the three deceased men in addition to Willis, before January 1, 2024, as specified in the probable cause document. As of now, no legal representation for Carson appears in online court records.

The tragic deaths have sparked a viral discussion on platforms like TikTok due to their true-crime narrative, prompting family members of the deceased to publicly voice their distress and demand justice through local media in the Kansas City area. Family members have been particularly vocal, questioning the timeline of the investigation and seeking accountability.
