Star linebacker Zack Baun has decided to continue his journey with the Philadelphia Eagles. The reigning Super Bowl champions announced on Wednesday that Baun has signed a three-year contract which secures him with the team until the end of the 2027 season.

Insiders revealed that the agreement is valued at $51 million, of which $34 million is guaranteed. These specifics are, however, unofficial since the team has not publicly shared the contract details.

Baun, known for initially dominating in special teams during his time with the New Orleans Saints, played a crucial role in strengthening the Eagles’ defense last season, under the direction of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, marking his first year in Philadelphia.

During the regular season, Baun displayed impressive stats with 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and an interception. His excellence continued with a notable interception against Patrick Mahomes during the Eagles’ decisive 40-22 triumph in the Super Bowl last month.

He concluded the season ranked fifth in the voting for the Defensive Player of the Year award, with two first-place votes, demonstrating his significant impact on the field.

Though Baun was set to enter free agency next week, he chose to forgo the opportunity to explore options with other teams, opting to stay loyal to Philadelphia and continue building on the success achieved last season.
