Johnson’s 17 secures Southern’s 73-70 win over Florida A&M

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In a thrilling contest, Southern University emerged victorious with a 73-70 win over Florida A&M on Monday night, securing at least a share of the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s regular-season title. Jordan Johnson led the way for Southern with an impressive 17-point performance.

    Johnson was efficient from the floor, making 6 out of 12 shots, including 5 of 10 from beyond the arc, helping the Jaguars improve their record to 19-10 overall and 14-2 in conference play. Supporting Johnson’s efforts, Michael Jacobs contributed 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Brentay Noel chipped in with nine points, connecting on 2 of 4 shots and going 4 for 5 from the free-throw line.

    On the other side, Florida A&M put up a fierce battle, with Sterling Young leading the Rattlers with 20 points. Milton Matthews provided a significant boost with an 18-point effort, and Ja’Derryus Eatmon added 11 points and three crucial blocks.

    Looking ahead, Southern will host Alabama State in their upcoming game on Thursday. Meanwhile, Florida A&M will be on the road to face Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
