In Baltimore, a power outage at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport led to a number of disruptions, including significant flight delays, on Monday morning.

The blackout primarily impacted sections of the main terminal and a nearby parking structure. By noon, power was completely restored, according to a social media update from airport officials.

By that point, more than 150 flights had been delayed and many others canceled, as indicated by data from a flight tracking service.

The power failure, which was traced back to a downed power line near the airport, was reported at approximately 7:40 a.m., explained Stephanie Weaver, a spokesperson for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. Crews were dispatched promptly to address the issue and reinstate power.

Travelers were advised by airport officials to verify their flight statuses with their respective airlines. There were also reports of some incoming flights being redirected to different airports.

Around 10 a.m., officials communicated through social media that power was progressively returning across the terminal. Meanwhile, some airlines had resorted to using portable stairs for passengers to disembark.

Although full power restoration was confirmed around midday, passengers were cautioned to brace for lengthy waits at ticket booths, security checkpoints, and concession areas.
