Mason Alexander, a freshman cornerback for Pittsburgh, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Indiana on Saturday, as reported by local authorities. The 18-year-old was a passenger in a car that veered off the road and collided with a tree in Fishers, a northeastern suburb of Indianapolis. Following the impact, the vehicle caught fire. Emergency responders pronounced Alexander deceased at the scene.
Alexander was well-known for his standout performance at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers. In December, he signed on with the Pittsburgh Panthers, embarking on his college journey by enrolling at the University of Pittsburgh in January.
Panthers’ head coach, Pat Narduzzi, expressed his condolences and reflected on Alexander’s time with the team through an official statement. “Mason made a remarkable impact on all of us during his brief time in the program,” Narduzzi shared. “He was thrilled to be a Panther, and we shared that enthusiasm about having him in our Pitt family. To us, he will always remain a Panther.”
