SEATTLE—In a nail-biting finish, Grand Canyon University triumphed over Seattle U with a close score of 63-60 on Saturday night, thanks to Duke Brennan’s impressive performance. Brennan contributed significantly to the Antelopes with a double-double, scoring 18 points and snagging 12 rebounds to bolster his team to victory.

Brennan wasn’t alone in propelling Grand Canyon forward; JaKobe Coles performed admirably, adding 13 points to the scoreboard, making 5 of his 8 shot attempts, and showing strong presence at the free-throw line with a 3 of 5 performance. He also grabbed 12 rebounds, matching Brennan’s effort on the boards. Makaih Williams was another key player, chipping in 12 points, shooting 4 for 8 from the field, including 1 for 4 on three-pointers, and was flawless from the free-throw line, going 3 for 3.

The victory keeps Grand Canyon closely trailing behind Utah Valley, the current conference leaders, with just two games left in the regular season. The Antelopes hold a record of 22-6 overall and 12-2 within the Western Athletic Conference, placing them in a strong position as the season winds down.

On the other side, Seattle U fought hard but fell short despite solid performances from their leading points-scorers. Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe led the charge with 16 points, coupled with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Paris Dawson also contributed 16 points. Brayden Maldonado added another 12 points to Seattle U’s effort.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Thursday. Grand Canyon will host Utah Tech in what promises to be another thrilling match-up as they aim to finish the season strong. Meanwhile, Seattle U will be hitting the road to face Southern Utah, hoping to bounce back from this close defeat.
