SDSU Triumphs 72-69 Against Wyoming

    LARAMIE, Wyo. — San Diego State claimed a narrow victory over Wyoming, 72-69, in an intense Mountain West Conference showdown on Saturday evening. BJ Davis spearheaded the Aztecs with an impressive 18-point performance, also contributing three crucial steals.

    The victory marked a significant achievement for the Aztecs, lifting their season tally to 20 wins against seven losses, including a 13-5 record within their conference. Miles Byrd also played a pivotal role, scoring 18 points while shooting 7 of 14 from the field. Byrd faced some challenges from beyond the arc, converting only one out of five attempts, but added strength from the line by hitting three of his four free throws. Meanwhile, Jared Coleman-Jones added 12 points, completing his contributions with a 5 of 11 performance in field goal attempts and connecting once from downtown.

    Wyoming’s effort was led by Obi Agbim who finished with a notable 21 points and added six rebounds to his evening stat line. Dontaie Allen supported with 16 points, and Matija Belic rounded out the key performances for the Cowboys with 12 points and six rebounds.

    The contest was a see-saw battle with Byrd managing nine first-half points, though the Aztecs trailed slightly at the break, 34-33. San Diego State’s fortune turned in their favor thanks to a decisive 8-0 run midway through the second half, allowing them to overturn a three-point deficit into a 56-51 lead at the 9:54 mark. Davis proved instrumental down the stretch, contributing 11 points in the second half to seal the win.

    Looking ahead, both teams are set to face critical opponents on Tuesday. San Diego State will travel to take on UNLV, while Wyoming will hit the road to face Fresno State.
