WACO, Texas — Jeremy Roach delivered an impressive performance with 21 points, and Norchad Omier achieved yet another double-double, leading Baylor to a 71-61 triumph over Oklahoma State on Saturday night. This victory marked the end of a three-game losing skid for the Bears.
In the second half, Baylor orchestrated a commanding 12-0 run, propelling them to a 41-29 advantage with 14:12 left on the clock. Roach was instrumental during this stretch, contributing eight points, including two consecutive 3-pointers. Oklahoma State narrowed the margin to 63-59 with just 1:26 remaining, but Baylor maintained composure, converting six of eight foul shots and securing the win with a crucial Roach layup.
Omier showcased his prowess with 10 points and 13 rebounds, marking his 17th double-double of the season and bringing him within two double-doubles of the school’s all-time record. Robert Wright III emerged as a significant contributor with 16 points, and Jayden Nunn added 11 points. Roach and Nunn combined efforts to deliver seven of the Bears’ eight successful 3-point attempts.
Baylor, now standing at 17-12 overall and 9-9 in the Big 12 conference, managed a shooting percentage of just 37% (22 of 59). Nevertheless, their defense was formidable, accumulating 11 steals and generating 16 points from 18 turnovers by Oklahoma State.
Bryce Thompson was Oklahoma State’s standout performer with 19 points. Arturo Dean, a transfer from FIU, reached a career milestone of 1,000 points, contributing nine points exclusively in the first half.
Oklahoma State initiated the game with a 17-7 surge, but Baylor responded with a 14-3 rally, heading into the halftime break with a slender 26-24 lead. Wright was pivotal in the first-half offensive, accumulating 12 points to guide the Bears.
Baylor has now claimed victories in five consecutive games and triumphed in 16 out of the last 19 encounters within this matchup.
Looking ahead, Baylor will face TCU on Tuesday, while Oklahoma State will visit UCF on Wednesday.
