OTTAWA, Ontario – Tim Stutzle maintained his impressive form by scoring a goal and providing an assist, extending his point streak to 11 games, as the Ottawa Senators secured a 5-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night, putting an end to their five-game skid.
The return of Brady Tkachuk and Shane Pinto to the Ottawa lineup proved pivotal, as both players found the back of the net, helping the team overturn a sluggish start to achieve a triumphant finish.
Facing a 2-1 deficit at the beginning of the third period, the Senators quickly turned the game around by scoring twice within 94 seconds, seizing control of the contest.
Tkachuk managed to score during a two-man advantage, leveling the score, while shortly thereafter, an unusual bounce led to Stutzle netting his 19th goal of the season.
David Perron and Michael Amadio also contributed goals for Ottawa, and Linus Ullmark made a noteworthy 34 saves to claim his first win since December 19.
Despite efforts from San Jose’s Tyler Toffoli, Timothy Liljegren, and Will Smith, who each netted a goal, the Sharks fell short. Their goaltender, Vitek Vanecek, turned away 27 shots.
The Sharks dominated large portions of the game but failed to halt Ottawa’s momentum at critical moments. Although the Senators started sluggishly and didn’t perform at their peak, they capitalized effectively on their scoring opportunities.
A key moment occurred when Ottawa capitalized on a significant two-man advantage in the third period, leveling the game at 2-2.
Another highlight was Tim Stutzle’s continued excellence, with 16 points comprised of four goals and 12 assists over his 11-game streak.
Looking ahead, the Sharks will travel to Toronto for a game on Monday, while the Senators are set to face off against Washington the same day.
