Castro leads George Washington over La Salle, 71-60

    WASHINGTON — George Washington University secured a 71-60 victory over La Salle, propelled by the impressive performance of Rafael Castro, who scored 22 points on Saturday. The win highlighted Castro’s significant contribution under the basket, with him pulling down 16 rebounds for the Revolutionaries, bringing their season record to 19-11 overall and 8-9 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

    Trey Autry was another key player for the Revolutionaries, contributing 13 points to the scoreboard. He managed to go 3 of 8 from the field, scoring 2 out of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, and impressively making all 5 of his free throws. Meanwhile, Christian Jones added to the team’s success by completing 13 points, hitting 3 of 5 from the field and maintaining a perfect record from the free-throw line, scoring all 6 attempts.

    The Explorers’ efforts were led by Corey McKeithan, who scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. However, despite La Salle’s attempts, their losing streak extended to seven games, marking their overall record at 12-17, with a conference record of 4-13. Jahlil White contributed with 13 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, while Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi chipped in with 11 points and three steals.

    Looking ahead, both teams aim to make a comeback in their upcoming games on Wednesday. George Washington is set to face Fordham in an away game, while La Salle will be on the road to compete against George Mason.
