LEXINGTON, Ky. — In a significant blow to the Kentucky Wildcats, coach Mark Pope has announced that guard Jaxson Robinson will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury.

Robinson, who has been a pivotal player for Kentucky with an average of 13 points per game, did not participate in Saturday’s 94-78 loss against the top-ranked Auburn. He has been absent in four of the Wildcats’ last five encounters. Despite managing to score seven points during a 12-minute performance in Kentucky’s narrow 83-82 victory over Oklahoma earlier in the week, Robinson’s condition has taken a turn for the worse.

Coach Pope revealed that Robinson’s determination to stay on the court led to him attempting to rehab the damaged wrist, coupled with receiving an injection to keep it functional. However, the efforts were short-lived as he faced a setback in the initial half of the Oklahoma game, making his return to play untenable.

“His drive to compete was so strong that he went through rehabilitation and opted for an injection hoping it would help,” said Pope. “But unfortunately, during the Oklahoma game, it was clear he could no longer continue. We have no choice but to conclude his season.”

Robinson is slated for wrist surgery in the upcoming week, and the anticipated recovery period is projected to last approximately three months.
