Lehigh University secured a convincing win against Army with a final score of 89-67, largely due to Joshua Ingram’s standout performance on Saturday in West Point, N.Y. Ingram delivered an impressive game by scoring 23 points and securing 13 rebounds, leading the Mountain Hawks to victory.
Ingram’s efforts were supported by Cam Gillus, who contributed 14 points, successfully hitting 3 of 6 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line while grabbing five rebounds. Nasir Whitlock also added to the scoreboard with 14 points, shooting 6 for 11 and scoring two 3-pointers.
On the flip side, Jalen Rucker was the key player for the Black Knights, scoring 22 points and contributing three steals. Ryan Curry supported Army with 16 points, five assists, and three steals. AJ Allenspach also chipped in with 15 points. However, these efforts weren’t enough to resist Lehigh’s momentum.
Lehigh established their dominance late in the first half, taking a decisive lead with just over six minutes left before the break and never looking back. At halftime, Lehigh was ahead 42-29, thanks to Ingram’s 13 first-half points. In the second half, the Mountain Hawks continued to extend their lead, outscoring Army by nine points with Tyler Whitney-Sidney leading with 10 points in the latter half.
This win was crucial for Lehigh as it helped them move out of last place in the Patriot League and significantly impacted Army’s standing, denying them a firm hold on third place. Both teams are preparing for their respective roles in the upcoming conference tournament. Lehigh is set to compete on Tuesday, while Army has earned a first-round bye. The final seeding was pending the outcome of Saturday’s remaining games.
