PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Coming off the bench to deliver an outstanding performance, Tarris Reed Jr. powered the UConn Huskies to a 75-63 victory against the Providence Friars on Saturday, contributing a notable 24 points and grabbing 18 rebounds.

Reed’s impact on the court was further emphasized with his six blocks, playing a vital role in UConn’s (20-9, 12-6 Big East Conference) successful outing. His teammate, Alex Karaban, supported the team’s effort by adding 17 points, shooting 6 of 13 from the field, landing 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, staying perfect at the free-throw line with 3 for 3, and collecting five rebounds. Solomon Ball also boosted the scoreboard, netting 14 points with accuracy, going 5 of 9 overall and 4 of 7 from three-point distance.

For the Friars (12-17, 6-12), Jayden Pierre emerged as the top scorer, concluding the game with 10 points. Despite his efforts, Providence was unable to keep up with UConn once they seized control. The Huskies took command with 10:03 remaining in the first half and maintained their momentum throughout. By halftime, UConn was ahead 41-33, significantly uplifted by Reed’s early contribution of 15 points. In the second half, UConn continued to outscore Providence by four points, with Reed adding nine critical points post-intermission.

Looking forward, both teams are set to return to action on Wednesday. UConn will host Marquette in what promises to be an intense contest for securing third place, while Providence will face DePaul at their home venue.
