MILAN — The latest Ferragamo collection for the upcoming winter season has been crafted by their creative director, Maximilian Davis. His focus centered on combining comfort with the freedom of movement, drawing inspiration from the legendary German neoexpressionist dancer, Pina Bausch. This was highlighted in the pieces showcased on Saturday during Milan Fashion Week.
Davis introduced a selection that included soft cashmere material molded into sleek long sheer dresses and innovative bodysuit-legging combinations, all paired playfully with furry flip flops. Shearling fur wasn’t just confined to outerwear; it was cleverly integrated into the design as accents on jackets and as intriguing panels on sheer dresses, creating a seductive play of concealment and exposure. A particular standout was a large faux black fur piece complemented by glossy black leather bags secured at the waist. Davis also innovated with leather and satin, utilizing them to drape fresh silhouettes in skirts and blouses.
The menswear offering was unmistakably tailored for everyday chic, featuring items such as monochrome cashmere suits and argyle sweaters matched with leather trousers, elevated by functional accessories like weekend bags. Adding a playful touch to the menswear was a fur-zipped bomber jacket.
While the collection predominated in neutral tones, there were striking bursts of the iconic Ferragamo red. This iconic shade, synonymous with the brand’s identity, was featured in detailed accents like gloves and almond-toe pumps. It made bolder appearances in a feather-covered dress paired with a matching handbag, or in a sheer outfit adorned with fringe and trailing poppies.
Davis remarked backstage, “Red is Ferragamo. It was part of the brand before my arrival, and it is a color I aim to infuse with more vibrancy.” These insights illuminate the continued evolution and homage to the brand’s revered heritage and signature elements.
