Marshall Triumphs 75-57 Over App State

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — In a dynamic display of skill and teamwork, Marshall University claimed a commanding victory over Appalachian State with a final score of 75-57 on Friday. Cade Gibbs was instrumental in the Thundering Herd’s triumph, scoring 16 points and securing five rebounds.

    In addition to Gibbs’ impressive performance, Jalen Speer contributed significantly by adding 14 points. Despite hitting only 2 out of 10 from beyond the arc, Speer’s impact was felt throughout the game, particularly with his five assists that helped maintain the offensive momentum. Obinna Anochili-Killen also contributed 12 points, shooting 5 for 11 from the field, rounding out Marshall’s solid performance.

    On the opposing side, Myles Tate took the spotlight for the Mountaineers, leading with 19 points and delivering two crucial blocks. Complementing Tate’s strong showing, CJ Huntley secured a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Dior Conners also chipped in with 11 points for Appalachian State, attempting to bridge the gap.

    With this victory, Marshall positions itself right behind a competitive four-way tie at the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings, seeking to climb higher as the season progresses.
