Marshall Triumphs Over Appalachian State 75-57

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall secured a 75-57 victory against Appalachian State on Friday, with Cade Gibbs scoring 16 points for the team.

    Gibbs not only contributed significantly to the scoreboard but also added five rebounds for the Thundering Herd, who now hold a 19-12 record, including 12-6 in the Sun Belt Conference. Jalen Speer was another key player for Marshall, earning 14 points while making 6 of his 16 field-goal attempts, including 2 out of 10 from the three-point line, and providing five assists. Additionally, Obinna Anochili-Killen contributed 12 points by going 5 for 11 in field goals.

    On the opposing side, Myles Tate led Appalachian State with 19 points and contributed defensively with two blocks. CJ Huntley made a notable impact with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Dior Conners also added 11 points to the Mountaineers’ efforts.

    With this win, Marshall positions themselves within close range of a four-way tie at the top of the Sun Belt standings.
