Clark’s 18 points help VCU defeat Davidson 80-56

    RICHMOND, Va. — In a triumphant display, VCU secured an 80-56 victory over Davidson on Friday, thanks to Jack Clark’s impactful performance.

    Clark was instrumental for the Rams, contributing 18 points along with six rebounds, bolstering VCU’s position with a 24-5 overall record and 14-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Luke Bamgboye was equally impressive, making 7 of his 8 shots from the field and converting 3 out of 3 attempts from the free-throw line to score 17 points. Additionally, Zeb Jackson made a solid contribution by scoring nine points after hitting 3 of 5 shots. This win marked the eighth consecutive victory for the Rams.

    Davidson’s standout player Zach Laput matched the leading scorer with 18 points, also pulling down six rebounds. Connor Kochera mirrored Laput’s points, adding 18 to the Wildcats’ total. Meanwhile, Bobby Durkin delivered a well-rounded performance with nine points, four assists, and two steals.

    VCU quickly took control of the game by capturing the lead within the first minute and maintaining it throughout. By halftime, the score was an eye-opening 43-19, with Clark having already secured 14 of his points. As the game progressed into the second half, Bamgboye took charge to lead the Rams, contributing 11 points after the break to seal the victory.

    Looking ahead, VCU will continue their journey by taking on Duquesne in an away game scheduled for Tuesday. Meanwhile, Davidson is set to visit Loyola Chicago for their next matchup on Wednesday.
