FULLERTON, Calif. — UC Irvine showcased their dominance with a commanding 76-51 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, largely led by Jurian Dixon’s impressive 21-point performance.
Dixon’s contribution didn’t stop at scoring; he also grabbed three steals to bolster the Anteaters’ (24-5, 14-3 Big West Conference) defensive efforts. Supporting Dixon, Justin Hohn delivered a strong performance, scoring 18 points while shooting an efficient 7 for 10 from the field, including an impressive 4 for 7 from three-point range. Adding further depth, Bent Leuchten proved effective with his shooting, hitting 5 of 7 field goals and making all three of his free-throw attempts to accumulate 14 points.
For the Titans (6-23, 1-16), Kendrick De Luna emerged as the leading scorer, finishing the game with 10 points. Antwan Robinson contributed with eight points and secured six rebounds, showing his presence on both ends of the floor. Donovan Oday also added eight points to the Titans’ efforts. Unfortunately for Cal State Fullerton, this defeat marked their ninth consecutive loss, highlighting the challenges they have faced throughout the season.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Saturday. UC Irvine will host Long Beach State, aiming to continue their successful run, while Cal State Fullerton will travel to face UC San Diego, seeking to alter their current trajectory.
