PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland State emerged victorious against Montana State with a 69-52 win on Thursday, thanks in part to an impressive performance by Isaiah Johnson.
Johnson contributed significantly to the Vikings’ victory, scoring 16 points by converting 7 of 13 attempts from the field and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line. Tre-Vaughn Minott was also vital, scoring 12 points while pulling down an astonishing 17 rebounds. Terri Miller Jr. chipped in with 12 points, hitting 6 of 9 shots from the field, helping Portland State to improve their record to 17-12 overall and 9-7 in the Big Sky Conference.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats, who dropped to 12-17 overall and 7-9 in the conference, looked to Brandon Walker as their top performer. Walker scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a valiant effort to lift Montana State. Patrick McMahon and Max Agbonkpolo contributed eight points each to the team’s total score.
Looking ahead, both teams are preparing for their next match on Saturday. Portland State will have the home-court advantage as they take on Montana, while Montana State will travel to face Sacramento State.
