SEMO triumphs over SIUE with Martin’s 31 points

    In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Southeast Missouri State secured an impressive 83-68 victory over SIU-Edwardsville, marking their tenth consecutive win this season. This triumph also earned them the Ohio Valley Conference’s regular season crown, a feat they hadn’t achieved since the 1999-2000 season.

    With the regular season concluded, Southeast Missouri State is poised to enter the OVC Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The tournament is set to commence on March 5 in Evansville, Indiana. Rob Martin was the standout performer for the Redhawks, scoring 31 points. His shooting was precise, making 13 of 19 attempts overall, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, and successfully converting 3 of 4 free throws. His teammate, Tedrick Washington Jr., was equally instrumental, contributing 28 points, supplemented by seven rebounds and five steals.

    Another notable performance came from Braxton Stacker, who scored eight points and displayed sharp shooting skills from the 3-point line. Southeast Missouri State’s cohesive effort was crucial in maintaining this winning momentum and achieving a double-digit victory streak.

    Meanwhile, Ray’Sean Taylor was the key player for the Cougars, scoring 30 points and contributing two steals. Despite his effort, SIU-Edwardsville fell short in the game. Ring Malith also performed well, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while Brian Taylor II added nine points for the Cougars.
