NEWARK, N.J. — Shamir Bogues made a notable impact with 22 points, helping Vermont secure a 71-61 victory over NJIT on Thursday night, extending their winning streak to seven games.
Vermont’s current record sits at 18-11 overall, and 11-3 in conference play, keeping them one game behind America East Conference leader Bryant, who narrowly defeated UMass Lowell 79-78.
Supporting Bogues, Ileri Ayo-Faleye contributed significantly with 14 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks, while Nick Fiorillo added 12 points to the Catamounts’ total.
For the Highlanders (5-24, 2-12), Tariq Francis led the scoring with 20 points in an impressive personal performance. NJIT also received strong play from Ari Fulton, who managed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Rogers added to the effort with 12 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Unfortunately, this was NJIT’s seventh consecutive loss.
