HIGH POINT, N.C. — In a commanding display on Wednesday night, High Point triumphed over South Carolina Upstate with a score of 88-66, clinching the Big South Conference regular-season crown for the second year in succession.
This victory marked the eleventh consecutive win for the Panthers, showcasing their sustained dominance in the league.
Trae Benham emerged as a key player for High Point with an impressive 17-point performance, further complemented by three steals. The Panthers, boasting a 26-5 overall record and 14-2 in the conference, also saw significant contributions from Kimani Hamilton, who tallied 16 points on a sharp 7 for 10 shooting, including two successful three-pointers out of three attempts, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Abdoulaye added to the strong team effort with 13 points, hitting 5 of 11 shots with three from beyond the arc.
The Spartans, struggling with a 6-24 season and 2-13 in conference play, were led by Brit Harris, who scored 16 points and provided four assists. Daniel Helterhoff contributed 15 points and delivered two blocks, while Mister Dean offered a solid performance with 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals.
