STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Trace McSorley, former quarterback for Penn State, is set to rejoin the Nittany Lions in the role of assistant quarterbacks coach.
McSorley, who was a key starter for Penn State from 2016 to 2018, made his way to professional football when he was picked in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft. Over his time with the Ravens, he participated in three games within two seasons. Later, McSorley made an appearance in six games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, where he started in one game. His journey in the NFL also saw him joining the practice squads of the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers, before his stint with Washington ended after last year’s training camp.
Penn State made McSorley’s return official through a social media announcement on Tuesday. In his new position, he will collaborate closely with quarterbacks coach Danny O’Brien. Together, they will have the opportunity to coach a talented player in Drew Allar, who made a significant impact by leading the Nittany Lions to the College Football Playoff semifinals in the previous season.
