In the bustling scene of Milan Fashion Week, Marni’s creative director, Francesco Risso, transformed his show venue into a lively jazz club, where he called upon friends, including the fashion-savvy Tracee Ellis Ross, to showcase his latest creations for the Fall-Winter 2025-26 season.
The collection’s inspiration blossomed from a month-long artistic residency in London alongside Nigerian talents, Slawn and Soldier. This collaborative journey, focused purely on the joy of creation, saw Risso reviving his passion for painting. The fruits of this partnership are evident in the artworks adorning several pieces of the collection.
“Our hands were dancing together, literally,” Risso shared joyously with backstage attendees.
Risso’s extravagant lineup, featuring sculptural nuances, is intended to serve as a “seed vault,” laying the groundwork for future designs.
Suits bore the artistry of oversized flowers, with stems trekking down the bias-cut jackets, while a playfully crafted bumblebee sweater stood as a knitted masterpiece. Wool coats displayed an innovative puffed-back design, resembling cocoons.
“It’s time for reflection,” Risso expressed, adding, “It’s time to preserve.”
