BERLIN – On Wednesday, gunfire erupted near a courthouse in Bielefeld, western Germany, leading to four individuals sustaining injuries, according to police reports. Two suspects have been taken into custody related to the incident.
Authorities confirmed that multiple shots were discharged on a street in close proximity to the state court in Bielefeld during the early afternoon hours. The injured parties were subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. However, the police have not disclosed details regarding the extent of their injuries.
In an official statement, the police indicated that there is a potential link between the shooting and an ongoing trial at the courthouse. The trial in question involves a defendant facing murder charges over the slaying of a former boxer, Besar Nimani, who was gunned down in the city nearly a year ago.
Later in the day, the police announced the discovery of a weapon that could be tied to the shooting incident. As of now, they have not released any information concerning the identities of the victims or the suspects.
