PARIS – In an effort to add more excitement to the Monaco Grand Prix, Formula 1 drivers will now be required to execute at least two pit stops during the race. The event is widely known for its glitz and glamour, yet it’s also infamous for its challenging nature when it comes to overtaking.

The governing body of F1, the FIA, announced on Wednesday that competitors will have to utilize at least three different sets of tires. This initiative aims to enhance the overall entertainment value of the race, addressing how difficult it is for drivers to make overtaking maneuvers on this circuit.

Due to the design and layout of the Monaco street circuit, wide modern F1 cars often face overtaking obstacles, resulting in races heavily influenced by the grid positions established during the qualifying rounds on Saturday.

Last year’s Monaco Grand Prix witnessed an incident with first-lap crashes that caused the race to be red-flagged and then restarted from a standstill. During this interval, teams had the opportunity to change tires, but following that, the race offered limited action. Charles Leclerc secured the victory without needing to make another stop.
