The latest Jil Sander collection made a dazzling statement with its shimmering surfaces contrasting sharply against the dimly lit runway, marking the second day of Milan Fashion Week’s showcase for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
Following the presentation, the Italian OTB Group revealed that designers Lucie and Luke Meier would be departing from the fashion house, a position they have held since 2017. The company noted that the decision was a mutual one.
In their final collection, the Meiers challenged traditional femininity by incorporating daring elements into the designs.
Dresses and outerwear adorned with long, sequined fringes captured glimmers of light, while feathery embellishments danced along wool fabrics, introducing a sense of contrast and motion. Long sculptural gowns were elegantly accented with delicate bows.
This array of beautiful designs was juxtaposed with punk-inspired details, including half-kilts strapped over clothing and a variety of silver hardware such as necklace-like safety pins, bold elements dangling from belts, and footwear adorned with studs.
Floral prints gave the impression of being dipped in an inky wash, presenting an ombre effect on coats, dresses, and suits, a visual metaphor of light emerging from darkness. Knitwear also reflected this juxtaposed theme.
The collection featured a predominantly monochromatic color scheme of black, white, and grey, offset by bursts of brighter shades, such as a bubble gum pink fringe dress and leather pieces in royal blue for men and red for women.
A notable trend observed from the runway was the revival of fur, highlighted by shearling fur coats and detailing on a long, deeply slit dress.
Other elements included fur and leather collars fastened with a silver chain, general emphasis on silver accents, and the prominence of shiny, sequined surfaces.
