SAN MARCOS, Texas — Tayton Conerway was on fire Tuesday night, leading Troy to a closely contested 74-69 victory over Texas State with his impressive 24-point performance.
Conerway was a standout for the Trojans (19-10, 12-5 Sun Belt Conference), not only contributing significantly on the scoreboard but also pulling down five rebounds and snagging five steals. Myles Rigsby was another key player for Troy, putting up 15 points, including a successful 11-of-13 from the free-throw line, and also grabbing five rebounds. Meanwhile, teammates Thomas Dowd, Jackson Fields, and Victor Valdes each made notable contributions with eight points apiece.
On the other side, Tylan Pope was the driving force for the Texas State Bobcats (15-15, 8-9), leading with a game-high 25 points and two steals. Mark Drone supported with nine points and also managed to secure two steals. Tyler Morgan played a vital role defensively for the Bobcats, adding eight points while collecting seven rebounds and achieving two blocks.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Friday. Troy is gearing up for an encounter against Southern Miss, while Texas State is preparing to host James Madison.
