NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets player Nic Claxton will face a one-game suspension without pay after accumulating his sixth flagrant-foul point of the current NBA season.

The NBA released a statement on Tuesday confirming Claxton’s penalty. He will miss the next game, which is scheduled for Wednesday night at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Claxton was cited for a flagrant 1 foul during the match against Washington on Monday night, which ended with a 107-99 loss for the Nets. At the time of the foul, 9 minutes and 24 seconds were left in the game. Claxton’s accumulated flagrant-foul points reached six, triggering an automatic suspension under the league’s regular-season rules.

At 25 years old, Claxton has been contributing an average of 10.1 points and 7.5 rebounds during his sixth NBA season.
