Thomas Tuchel experienced a day filled with royal engagements and soccer on his busy schedule as England’s new men’s national team coach.
On Tuesday, Tuchel was warmly received by Prince William at the esteemed Windsor Castle.
“Great to meet with new England men’s manager Thomas Tuchel today and hear about plans for the team,” read a message from the Prince and Princess of Wales on their social media account, featuring a photograph of the prince and Tuchel exchanging handshakes at the castle’s entrance.
According to reports, the meeting at Windsor lasted more than an hour.
Continuing with the theme of royalty, later that day, Tuchel attended a Premier League match involving Crystal Palace, where they were playing against Aston Villa.
Prince William famously supports Aston Villa.
Hailing from Germany, Tuchel accepted the role as England’s latest international coach and officially commenced his responsibilities on January 1.
He has been actively attending various Premier League matches to observe potential candidates for his squad as they prepare for an upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
Tuchel’s inaugural matches in his new position are the qualifiers against Albania on March 21 and Latvia on March 24.
He will be overseeing these games as part of his initial set of competitive fixtures.
The newly appointed coach’s contract with England lasts until the World Cup finals, which will take place in the summer of 2026 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
