INDIANAPOLIS — Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, recently underwent a surgical procedure to address ligament damage in his wrist. Despite this, Hill is anticipated to be ready for the upcoming training camp, according to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s remarks on Tuesday during the NFL scouting combine.
Coach McDaniel offered clarification on the nature of Hill’s injury, explaining that contrary to earlier statements from Hill’s agent, the receiver’s wrist was not fractured. Instead, the issue was identified as ligament damage, which necessitated surgical intervention. Hill sustained this injury during a joint practice with Washington in August but managed to play throughout the entire 2024 season despite the setback.
“He’s expected to start running shortly,” McDaniel stated, “and will focus on building his fitness around this capability until he can resume catching footballs in the summertime, preparing for training camp.”
In January, Drew Rosenhaus, Hill’s agent, revealed that medical professionals initially advised Hill to undergo wrist surgery that would end his season. However, Hill opted to postpone the surgery until post-season, completing the season with 959 yards, 81 receptions, and six touchdowns.
Following Miami’s season-ending defeat to the New York Jets, Hill raised eyebrows by suggesting he might be interested in joining a different team. However, he has since softened those remarks, attributing them to a moment of frustration over not qualifying for the playoffs.
