INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland Browns’ general manager Andrew Berry has made it clear that the team has no plans to trade their star defensive end, Myles Garrett, despite the player expressing a desire to move.
“We cannot envision a scenario where not having Myles benefits the Browns,” Berry stated during the NFL combine on Tuesday.
Berry emphasized that the organization has engaged in numerous conversations with Garrett and recognizes his frustrations. Previously, Berry affirmed that the team had no intentions of trading Garrett, further anticipating that Garrett’s trajectory would take him directly from the Browns to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Over three weeks ago, Garrett publicly expressed his wish for a trade, stating his ambition “to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” This comes on the heels of the Browns’ disappointing finish in the AFC North with a 3-14 record last season.
Garrett, who was named AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, was once again a finalist for the prestigious award. His 14 sacks ranked second in the league, and he carved his name in NFL history as the first player to register 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons. He proudly holds the franchise record with 102.5 sacks.
Garrett is currently under contract with the Browns for another two seasons in accordance with the five-year, $125 million extension he penned in 2020.
