BISMARCK, N.D. — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer from North Dakota is recuperating at his residence in Bismarck following a head injury he sustained over the weekend. The incident occurred when Cramer slipped on ice.
The 64-year-old senator shared details on social media, explaining that he had been walking behind his house on Sunday when he accidentally stepped on ice, causing him to fall and hit the back of his head. The next moment he recalled was arriving at a hospital’s emergency room with his wife, Kris, by his side.
Medical professionals diagnosed Cramer with a severe concussion and noted he had experienced a seizure and minor brain bleed. The head injury required staples, which were applied by a doctor who subsequently admitted him for further observation.
“It will be day-to-day this week, but I am ready to return (to Washington, D.C.) quickly if events require it,” Cramer stated in a post made on Monday. He also shared images showing blood on the snowy ice and the staples in his head.
By Tuesday, Cramer updated his followers that he was recovering at home in Bismarck and was taking anti-seizure medication. He admitted that his head still caused some discomfort but mentioned he was getting plenty of rest.
Senator Cramer, a Republican, had been reelected to a second term in the Senate only last year.
