A tragic incident unfolded in Paris involving a young American woman visiting Europe who has been apprehended for allegedly throwing her newborn from a hotel window. The incident, which resulted in the child’s death, occurred on Monday morning when the baby was reportedly thrown from the second floor of a Parisian hotel. Emergency staff quickly arrived at the scene and transported the newborn to the hospital, but unfortunately, the child could not be saved.
The woman, believed to have been traveling across Europe with a group of young adults from the United States, received medical care after giving birth and has since been placed under custody at the hospital, according to official reports.
It has been confirmed that the woman was traveling with EF Gap Year, a Massachusetts-based organization that facilitates international travel programs for young adults. In a statement released on Tuesday, spokesperson Adam Bickelman expressed profound sorrow over the incident. “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time,” Bickelman stated.
He added that EF Gap Year is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation led by local authorities and is providing counseling services to all group members as well as extending support to the families affected. The organization has chosen not to disclose any personal information about the woman involved.
Investigations are being carried out by the child protection police unit in Paris, which is treating the case as a homicide of a minor under the age of 15. Authorities are also exploring the possibility that the woman was experiencing pregnancy denial, a condition where one is unaware of their pregnancy until they go into labor.
