LOS ANGELES – Trevor Moore’s stellar performance, scoring twice, propelled the Los Angeles Kings to a decisive 5-2 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night. The win showcased Moore’s impressive form, marking his second game this season with a pair of goals. Notably, four of Moore’s 10 goals have occurred in the recent quartet of games.

The Kings displayed a robust team effort in the third period, with Joel Edmundson and Kevin Fiala adding to the score. Currently riding a strong wave, the Kings have an impressive 14-1-1 record over their last 16 outings. Quinton Byfield was instrumental in the game, notching a career-high four assists, while Darcy Kuemper stood firm in goal, making 19 saves.

Kuemper’s performance was particularly remarkable, extending his home winning streak to eight games, tying him with former Kings goaltender Kelly Hrudey for this achievement. The Golden Knights saw their winning streak halted, despite goals from Brayden McNabb and Mark Stone during the second period. Ilya Samsonov made 14 saves for Vegas.

The Kings found themselves trailing 2-1 after two thirds of the game. However, Moore balanced the scales just 42 seconds into the third with a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle, which connected with the crossbar before finding its way into the net. Warren Foegele, who also contributed an assist, secured the lead for the Kings at 8:31 of the third period with a deft backhanded shot past Samsonov.

Key insights from the game include Vegas maintaining their lead in the Pacific Division despite dropping two of three encounters with Los Angeles this season. Meanwhile, Fiala has been a standout for the Kings, leading the team with 23 goals and netting seven in the past six games.

A pivotal moment came when Edmundson widened the Kings’ lead with a snap shot from near the blue line, giving the team some breathing room with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

Additionally, Kuemper contributed to Moore’s third-period goal with his second career assist, a feat he hadn’t accomplished since playing for the Washington Capitals on November 8, 2023.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will play host to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, while the Kings are set to welcome the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.
