WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — UNC Wilmington emerged victorious in a 79-70 triumph against William & Mary on Monday night, largely due to the standout performance by Harlan Obioha. Obioha was instrumental for the Seahawks, contributing significantly with 23 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Khamari McGriff also played a crucial role by scoring 14 points on an excellent 6-of-8 shooting from the floor while adding six rebounds to the team’s efforts. Donovan Newby chipped in with 10 points, even though his shooting was less efficient at 3-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, and a 2-of-3 performance from the free-throw line.

The Tribe found their main contributor in Gabe Dorsey, who led them with 19 points, while Caleb Dorsey supported with an additional 13 points. The competition remained contentious through the first half, ending in a 39-39 tie. However, it was McGriff’s decisive free throw with just under five minutes remaining in the game that granted UNC Wilmington a lead they would hold onto tightly, standing at 66-65.

Both teams are set to continue their campaigns on Thursday, with UNC Wilmington traveling to face Campbell, and William & Mary heading out to challenge Towson.
