NEW YORK — MSNBC is seeing a significant change in its lineup as Joy Reid prepares to depart the network. The transition was announced by MSNBC’s new president in a memo circulated to employees on Monday, signaling the conclusion of Reid’s tenure as host of her prominent prime time news program.

Reid’s show, “The ReidOut,” has been a staple of MSNBC’s evening schedule since it premiered in 2020. The hour-long program, which aired at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, featured in-depth interviews with influential figures in the political sphere and other notable newsmakers.

In the memo, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler expressed gratitude for Reid’s numerous contributions over the years. She acknowledged Reid’s achievements that have garnered numerous accolades, including the recent 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series. Kutler also noted that in the interim period, Reid’s time slot will be filled by a rotation of guest anchors.

A new ensemble news program will be introduced, with current hosts of “The Weekend” on MSNBC taking the stage on weekdays at 7 p.m. These hosts, Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez, will bring fresh perspectives to the weekday lineup, according to Kutler.

Speculation regarding the cancellation of “The ReidOut” surfaced online over the weekend. Before the official memo was released, Reid expressed her gratitude online for the messages of support she received. In her posts on BlueSky and Instagram, she extended heartfelt thanks to her supporters and her team, praising them as family. She closed her message enthusiastically, inviting viewers to join her for her final broadcast.
