MANHATTAN, Kan. — Arizona State University has parted ways with its top scorer, BJ Freeman, due to behavior deemed harmful to the team, as confirmed by a spokesperson on Sunday.
Freeman’s departure comes after an eventful period marked by disciplinary issues, including ejections from games against Colorado and Arizona while participating in conference action. He also faced a suspension during the Sun Devils’ defeat against Oklahoma State on February 9.
The senior guard, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches tall, has been averaging 13.7 points across 25 games this season. His last appearance on the court was during a contest against No. 5 Houston, where he contributed 17 points to the team’s 80-65 loss.
Currently, the Sun Devils hold a 12-14 overall record and a disappointing 3-12 in the Big 12 conference, having endured a string of six consecutive losses leading up to their game against Kansas State on Sunday.
The initial report regarding Freeman’s dismissal was made by a local newspaper in Arizona.
